It used to be that all knowledge humans had about the world could fit into a large modern bookshelf.
Then information kept increasing.
These days, a printout of Wikipedia would fill a whole library. Or maybe even a couple libraries.
And if we're talking about the total information on the Internet, I'm pretty sure the all the printers in the world could not work fast enough to keep up with the newly added information.
This is truly the era of abundance and choice, at least with regard to information.
And it's super confusing to me. I used to be able to feel like I know about stuff. These days I can't even keep up with the very small niches that I'm familiar with. It's the difference of playing besides a small stream watching the water flow and playing with the water, and being swept up by a huge flood and all you can do is try to keep yourself afloat and hopelessly watch everything unfold.
